I’m excited to be leading retreats again as they’re essential for our wellbeing and self care.
When we make time for ourselves this way, we’re not only retreating from the fast pace and distractions of our modern lives, we are returning. Returning to our deeper selves, to a slower, more peaceful rhythm, to our authentic connection with source, and to the natural world around us.
In Costa Rica, we'll strip away layers that keep us from knowing ourselves fully. We’ll have space to play and to listen to our heart’s intelligence, to hear the quiet voice of our Soul. We’ll make time to feel and express our vital, most authentic, creative, wild aliveness. It is truly extraordinary to do all this in the company of like-minded souls.
Fingers crossed you will join me on this Yin/Yang holistic adventure to the heart of Costa Rica . . . from new rain forest beside the Pacuare River to beachside in Nosara, Costa Rica. But either way, pick a part of this grand adventure and join in!

Rios Lodge Eco Sanctuary, Pacuare, Costa Rica
We begin our journey with a deep dive into the beauty and splendor of Costa Rica’s tropical rainforest, nestled on the banks of the tropical Pacuare River, at the award winning Rios Lodge Eco Sanctuary in Pacuare, Costa Rica.
This will be a rare opportunity to see sustainable reforestation and eco environmentalism at work in the heart of the rain forest, a reminder of our human responsibility as shepherds to hold the earth and ourselves as sacred. Our patronage at Rios Lodge supports this incredible work and offers insight into conservation in the region. Here we’ll wake to the sound of the majestic Pacuare River, enjoy waterfall hikes, Cacao Ceremony, Pacuare canopy exploration, river swims and tubing, zip line, Kirtan, daily Yoga, meditation, journaling, Self inquiry, delicious chef prepared meals. Time for deep relaxation, play, laughter, and joy in the company of like minded companions.
"And you? When will you begin that long journey into yourself?" - Rumi
The Nomadic Hotel, Nosara, Costa Rica
Next we head to the ocean, traveling west, following the warmth and light of the sun, we’ll bask in the sweet sunsets and warm waters of the Pacific coast, finishing our journey beachside in the town of Nosara.
Our final destination at the Nomadic Hotel is easy “being,” a sensual adventure in warm tropical waters at a luxurious boutique hotel. Languid, open time. Sunrise/sunset walks. Yoga, meditation, Kirtan. Time to play, to read or soak in the salt water pool and ocean. Paddle boarding, chocolate making, creating sacred jewelry, exploring the charming town of Nosara: farmers markets, spa time, massage (additional cost), and more. Chef prepared meals and gastronomical adventures overlooking the Pacific. Here we’ll have space and time to integrate our experience at Rios, and to move even deeper into relaxation, returning to ourselves and our natural rhythm.
"And so they emerged and once again beheld the stars." - Dante

Daniel Stewart is a beloved yoga and meditation teacher, co-founder of Rising Lotus Yoga in Sherman Oaks, and a Jungian based, depth psychotherapist. He developed and leads the Yoga philosophy & psychology module of the RLY teacher training, and he shares his love of music as a healing and transformational experience through the art and practice of ecstatic Kirtan.
Daniel is dedicated to ongoing study of the practice of awakening, fully and playfully, to wholeness in each moment. He believes that all spiritual and psychological practices - Eastern and Western - lead to this truth: we are most fully alive when we discover and align with what is authentic in our Selves and express that essence passionately and creatively. In his dynamic classes, workshops, and retreats, Daniel weaves together music, Eastern philosophy, depth psychology, poetry, and laughter to create vibrant, healing environments. His approach allows students to quiet their minds, release physical tension, and rediscover a deep sense of well-being, happiness, and joy.
He can be found leading Yoga Church on Sunday morning at Rising Lotus Yoga, and leading Kirtan there every third Saturday.
Bear is a foster who survived the streets and was brought back to safe, loving relationship over the years with Daniel. Bear is a Havana Brown, the breed of feline known for their warm, rich, reddish brown coat. He is also called Ernesto, a nod to Ernest Hemingway's time in Cuba, and El Diablo Moreno; You can figure that one out on your own. :)
" I’ve attended numerous retreats with Daniel. They have all been not only restful, restorative and healing but also insightful, joyful and empowering. Daniel creates a safe, healing, open, accepting space and community. I’ve often showed up depleted and alone and always reconnected to my inner strength and made lifelong friends in the process. I have worked in the healing arts myself for almost 30 years and I can honestly say Daniel’s retreats are a priceless, life changing experience. You will return to your true self and connection to abundant love and peace. You will embody and experience JOY and play and you will leave lighter and empowered

"Daniel's yoga retreat is a spiritual, psychological, and physical celebration of being alive. You begin on the first day, perhaps as a stranger, and by the end, you've found yourself in a family of like-minded yogis who have all shared in a transformational (and potentially life-changing) experience. Daniel utilizes his experience as a depth psychologist to build a safe and inclusive space where vulnerability is possible. He lovingly leads yoga classes filled with laughter, sweat, tears, and introspection. He also weaves in music and ecstatic kirtan to elevate the experience to a whole different level. You will have beautiful lodging, undoubtedly, but you may find yourself hardly needing to sleep because you'll be buzzing with energy. It really is a yoga retreat like no other. While many others check the boxes of classes, community, and beautiful location, Daniel's retreats offer the vibrancy of being joyfully and most fully alive. "

“Daniel is not only a born teacher with a wonderful warm presence and a capacity to be clear and to give excellent corrections (so important for an ongoing quest to improve form), he also has a genuine connection to the divine universe and that creates moments where his students can tap into that energy getting a taste of those all too fleeting, all too precious moments of transcendence."

Yin and Yang is a concept that originated in Chinese philosophy, describing an opposite but interconnected, self-perpetuating cycle. Yin and yang can be thought of as complementary, and at the same time opposing, forces that interact to form a dynamic system, one in which the whole is greater than the assembled parts, and the parts are essential for cohesion of the whole. One force can not exist without the other. Together they represent wholeness, the Lila, the dynamic dance of opposites which is all universal energy. Our work as yogis, as conscious seekers, is to balance these opposites in our lives.
This trip is an attempt to explore not only the lush depth of the rainforest, but the warmth and bright light where ocean meets the shore. An wholistic journey is created by combing the two. Yin and Yang Costa Rica.
